The Agung Rai Museum of art is the one of museum that has a lot of an art collection and Agung Rai Museum of Art is one of the fine arts museum in Bali, which holds various collections of paintings from the renowned painters both from domestic and foreign tourists. The museum was inaugurated by the Minister of Education and Culture of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Ing. Wardiman Djojonegoro on June 9, 1996.
The museum features two main large buildings filled with exhibits displaying a large collection of artworks. The museum is located in Pengosekan, approximately 3km south of the main Ubud hub and 25km north of Denpasar and Agung Rai Museum of Art covers a sprawling 5Ha. The Agung Rai Museum of Art part of the display gallery cultural center and holiday stay of Balinese entrepreneur Anak Agung Gde Rai.
The collection is housed in two buildings and covers over five hectares, displaying the work of Balinese art legends such as Indonesian artist Raden Saleh and other painters like Walter Spies, Rudolf Bonnet and more. The artwork spans other regions of Indonesia as well, and is a place for visitors to learn more about Balinese and Indonesian culture as a whole.
The Agung Rai Museum or people call it ARMA is not just a museum, because it is the center of visualization and performing arts, and provide an opportunity for visitors to enjoy the permanent exhibitions and temporary works of various artists, theatrical performances, dance, music, and painting class, the bookstore, the room read, library, cultural workshops, training programs and seminars.
The permanent exhibition of the painting collection is the work of the people of Bali, Indonesia, and the foreign artists that were collected by the ARMA Foundation. Paintings on display include: painting Kamasan classic made on the bark, masterpieces by artists of rock from the 1930s until the 1940s, the work of Raden Saleh Syarif Bustaman, Walter Spies, I Gusti Nyoman Lempad, Ida Bagus Create, Anak Agung Gede Sobrat, I Gusti Deblog, Willem Gerald Hofker and Adrien Le Mayeur De Merpres.
